Friday Post (11/25)

What did I learn about alcohol with teenagers?
61% of high school students have never had a drink, most students just find other things to do with their time rather than drink or go to parties. 93% of students think it is unacceptable to drink if you are underage. 67% of incoming college students did not drink in the past two weeks. Most teenagers don't think it is cool to drink underage. Since teenagers bodies are still developing it effects them differently than adults. It can lead to lifelong brain damage, motor skills and coordination.

Game Journalism: Day 8

1. How to play the game:
Well to walk you press W and to move backwards you press S.
You use your axe to cut logs off of trees, you need that for everything. Logs can be used for fires and to make sticks and a lot of other things. To pick up logs off the ground you scroll over them and press F. To run you hold W and the left Shift key at the same time.
If you click the G key than you can go to your inventory and you can see what materials you need to make certain things and you can make them there. To take a screenshot you click the F10 button and for videos you click F9 to start the video and the click F9 to end the video, but you have to have Fraps open to do both of those or it won't work. To open boxes or locked boxes you go over it and hold F until it opens and then you add the supplies to your inventory. To make a fire you need some sticks and logs and you make one in one of the categories in your inventory section. you click 8 and it will come up and then you click on it, you then go over it and hold F to open it up and you add a match and some wood. To shoot a gun you choose your gun right click to aim and then left click to fire the bullet.

2. Did you get AI Hunter's in the game?
No, I have no idea what that is.

3. I don't think I would get a whole lot done in half an hour. But I would try my best to not die. I could probably collect up a bunch of supplies and build a few things, not a lot.

Game Journalism: Day 4

Tip 1: stock up on wood and fibre bushes, wood especially for fire's at night.
Tip 2: don't jump off rocks, because yes, you will die.

My accomplishments were; surviving the night, making a fire, and finally finding fibre bushes. I don't hate this game anymore by the way, probably because I died a lot less today. Here are all my screenshots:

Game Journalism: Day 3

Here's my inventory right now.

Today I got like nothing accomplished. No matter how hard I try to kill a wolf or a bear I die. When I try to shoot them it doesn't do anything. I couldn't make a fire.
I STILL CAN'T FIND FIBRE BUSHES >:(

I died so many times, all by bears or wolves and once by getting too cold because I couldn't make a fire.
It takes way too many supplies to make anything so I haven't been able to make anything which is lame.
I am not a fan of this game.

Game Journalism: Day 2

Scrap Metal:

Tree:

Cutting a tree:

I risked my life to take this photo:

Yes, I died:

RIP yet again:

The only things I did right were cutting trees and that's about it. I chased a chicken bird thing for like ten minutes but then a bear attacked me and I died. I can't kill them, I'm terrible at it.
The things I did wrong were like I can't find fibre bushes and I seem to capture a chicken bird thing. Also I suck at killing bears or wolves (the two animals that viciously attacked me).
Animals I saw: bear, wolf, chicken bird thing (idk??)
Trees I cut: pine tree, you get four pieces of wood from it.
I forgot to take a picture of a loot bag but I got one. It had some bullets and health stuff and a few other supplies.
I didn't make a camp yet, I don't have enough supplies for it. I still have to find the fibre bush and harvest it or whatever.
Some tips would be to run away from those bears. They seem very angry. Another tip would be to not waste time on chasing a wild chicken thing, because you'll have no luck.

My opinion on the game; It's hard to get the hang of the controls. It isn't easy to kill animals that attack you. It's an okay game and I'm sure I'll like it more once I get used to the way it's set up and once I find those fibre bush things. I don't like the graphics when you run because they're kind of laggy.
Also I lost count of how many times I died but there were a lot.

Game Journalism: Day 1

A person's basic needs are food, water, oxygen, and shelter.
Defintion of 'subsistence'; "The action or fact of maintaining or supporting one self at the minimum level".

Subsistence is an open world first person, multiplayer or open world (up to 64 players) survival game. In the game, survival doesn't come easy, you need to use the game's crafting mechanic to make a base to live in. You have to make weapons to fend from enemies and wild animals. You need to garden and mine to gain resources and do whatever else you need to do to survive the night.

The game is developed by ColdGames which is made up of one developer. This is ColdGames first game on Steam.

Subsistence is a survival game and can be related to games like Minecraft and other open world games.

Early access is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can pay for a game in the early stages of development and obtain access to incomplete, alpha or beta versions of the game, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue work on the game.

The goal of the game is to integrate the kinds of base-resource micro-management typically found in RTS titles, into a boots-on-the-ground shooter. Each base has an underlying economy of power and raw materials that must be maintained and expanded in order to rise in dominance.

The first thing you should do in the game is make a shelter.

For photoshop I have made the moon and the planet. It was kind of tricky to do because I wasn't quite sure how to do anything.

Friday Post (09/23)

What did I do this week in info tech?
This week I used Khan Academy to use coding to make different images. I made the simple snowman assignment, waving snowman, and sunny snowy day. https://www.khanacademy.org/
I also did the soccer pivot on Monday, which wasn't too difficult once I figured out how to do it.

What assignments have I done so far?
The assignments I have done so far are; predicted grade, super planet crash, Friday post on September 16, soccer pivot, simple snowman, waving snowman, sunny snowy day, what I want to learn in info tech, and this Friday's post.

What have I learnt?
I learned how to use Pivot Animator to make the soccer pivot. I only sort of enjoyed it but I was confused at first and then I got the hang of it. But, I found it kind of boring.
      I learned how to use the Khan Academy website to do the three snowman assignments. I don't really like coding because I find it confusing and not enjoyable. I learned how to make circle and lines with coding by writing 'ellipse' before you write the numbers for the coding and then writing 'line' before you write the numbers for the coding there. For example: ellipse(200,300,150,150);
is what you would write to make one of the circles, I used that for the bottom circle of the snowman.

My first impression of coding was that I assumed it was going to be really difficult and confusing. After I have now used it I see that it isn't too difficult and it is a little confusing, but it is not as hard as I thought it was going to be. It isn't something I want to do often.

Friday Post (09/16)

What did I do this week in Info Tech?
I made an avatar, a header, did my predicted grade, and did the super planet crash assignment.
The avatar was pretty easy to make so was the header, I just had a little trouble adding it to my blog properly, but it worked well.
The predicted grade wasn't too hard but when I was adding the GIF's it wasn't working properly and they didn't space out properly. They still don't look up to my liking and I had no idea how to add the background for them.
The super planet crash wasn't too difficult it just took me a few tries to get the right planets in the right spots for them to not collide and fail the game. The screenshots were easy to take because I just clicked the Print Screen button and they saved to my Dropbox. It was pretty easy to add the screenshots to my post, I would just drag them over.

What did I learn?
I learned a fast way to take screenshots on the computer, by clicking the Print Screen button and having them save to my Dropbox. I learned how to make a blog, and how to make an avatar and header, which is something I did not know how to do so it was brand new to me.
My opinion on pivot animator is that it isn't too difficult to use. I don't really like using it but I didn't struggle too much on it. I would suggest it to others but it'll take a little bit for them to fully get it.
